WOW. UNBELIEVABLE! I saw the loco moco on a YouTube review, as darkest gravy. It was wonderful. Great flavor! See pic. The patties were char grilled & tender. Unbelievable flavor. Among the best things I've ever eaten. I did the scrambled egg on top, poured a little Tabasco. It all merges together in the best way. Brown rice. Boy it was the best loco! $21 GET THERE. breakfast had a little wait list, we went at 11:20 and seated right away. Nice little surf shack by Hawaiian village. 5 stars thank u!
Breakfast before heading home since this place is close to the Hilton Hawaiian where I was staying. The line was long and you sign in at the front, but it goes pretty quickly, especially if you have a small party. Servers are quick and friendly and efficient. It's super chill inside, it feels like you're in a tree house the way other people said. I didn't want to eat too much before my flight so I only ordered some sides and it was delicious. I'm sure the actual breakfast is just as good. The bacon was the perfect amount of crispy, the taro English muffin was tasty, and the sweet potato was the perfect amount of crunchy/salty/sweet. I will come back if I'm ever here!
While staying at the Hilton Village resort, one of the staff recommended this restaurant for a great local breakfast cafe. They were right!! We truly enjoyed ourselves, and it was worth the wait (about 45 minutes at 8am)! I definitely recommend visiting this cafe for breakfast. You won't be disappointed.
This place is AMAZING for breakfast. It's a little spot, so you may have to wait a little bit, but I promise you the food is so worth it. The staff were all super friendly and seemed happy to be there, and happy to see every guest. Cute place. I ordered the berry French toast. All of the fruit was so ripe & flavorful. The French toast was some of the best I've ever had. Just overall, delicious. My husband ordered the eggs Benedict and he's a big eggs Benny guy. He loved it, was very satisfied. We also both ordered an iced coffee and it was so delicious. Not sure the kind of coffee they used, but I assume it was something made in Hawai'i. Super flavorful and the perfect cup of Joe to get the day started. We will be going back here before we take off for home, for sure. It was THAT good that it needs a repeat visit on the same trip. Highly recommend for breakfast!
Ok there may be a wait time but the hostess was literally breaking a sweat doing the absolute MOST to get folks sat as soon as possible. Ambiance is as if you're dining in a treehouse overlooking a patch of the city. Lovely and airy! Food was intensely flavored, beautiful, local, and delicious. There's lots of tempting substitutions you can opt for. For example you can get ripe pineapple instead of kale salad, or a purple taro English muffin instead of a regular one. The Portuguese sausage here is amazing and tender by the way, get a side of it with your meal! Ice cold beers are available should you desire, and the staff were above and beyond. All the stars, and I can't wait to come back when In Honolulu.
Everything is awesome we came late for breakfast- around 11:30am so was hardly a wait. Maybe 15 minutes. Everything was fresh and delicious.
We decided to try Goofy's based on all the great Yelp reviews and appetizing pictures. The restaurant is located upstairs and has a small, quaint vibe with simple surf decor. While the service was excellent and the staff was attentive, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag for us. The dinner menu felt a bit limited for our taste. I ordered the ground beef tacos, which were beautifully presented but had a flavor I couldn't quite enjoy. I managed to eat two of the four tacos, but the taste of the meat just wasn't for me--though I think others might like it more. My husband opted for the beef patties served on rice with gravy and an egg on top (he skipped the egg) and a side of toast. While the dish's appearance wasn't the most appealing (think cafeteria-style), he actually loved it and finished every bite! Overall, Goofy's is worth trying, and while it didn't fully hit the mark for us, I can see why it has such a loyal following. It's a one-time visit for me, but I'd still recommend it for the excellent service and unique vibe!
The entrance is tucked away on the second floor of an older building; a small relic of a time long past. The dining area is flanked with a large glass wall that folds back and allows fresh air to flow through the space. Service is prompt, almost by necessity because that waiting line outside be absurd. THE FOOD. - Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict | Two small piles of tender pork atop buttered English muffins and two poached eggs with rich hollandaise sauce. It also comes with purple potatoes and kale salad. A great dish to try! - Big Island Beef Loco Moco | A big scoop of rice layered with housemade beef patties (savory and nicely charred edges) and two sunny side up eggs. A pool of delicious gravy covers the plate surface. Another awesome dish to try out. THE DRINKS DRUNK. - Coffee | Medium blend and required to start the day right. - Guava Juice | Freshly squeezed and sweet. THE PARKING AFFAIR. Parking can be found at adjacent hotel parking structures. Or if you're staying at one of those adjacent hotels, walk over. COMING BACK? It's a nice breakfast joint, but not being able to make reservations and the long wait line is a little deterring. I'd recommend getting there right when they open (7AM) to avoid the wait.
Another visit to Goofy. It's been a year or so since we've been back on the island. We went last night with a few family member AND went this morning with others. This place is consistently good and has been for several years. All of our friends and family ALWAYS have to stop here for a meal even before venturing into the rest of Waikiki. The benedicts and the açaí bowls are our favorites. Last night was the first time I tried their Caesar salad and it is very tasty and satisfying. The hubby had their do-it-yourself tacos which he really enjoyed. Their loco moco is tastier than most with a moat of delicious gravy surrounding the rice, meat patty, egg stack island.
